Trailbuddy

For trail runners who repeat their trails

Your trail doesn't care about kilometers.

Trailbuddy times your climbs and your loops, takes splits at the creek crossing and the summit instead of every kilometer, and compares runs fairly across heat, mud and season.

One email when it is ready. Nothing else.

01 · Climbs

Hill repeats, without the lap button

Run your hill. Trailbuddy notices you ran the same climb four times, times every rep, and never asks you to fumble a button at the bottom of an interval. Each climb keeps its own history, so you can watch 3:12 become 3:08 over a season.

02 · Landmark splits

Splits where the trail changes

Kilometer splits are noise on a trail: one lands mid climb, the next on the only runnable flat. Trailbuddy takes its splits at the places you already use to pace yourself, the creek crossing, the switchbacks, the summit, and compares like with like across runs.

03 · Repeated routes

The same loop, honestly compared

Progress on trails does not look like a new distance record every week. It looks like the ridge loop, run twelve times across a season, trending the right way. Trailbuddy keeps every run of every route in one place, whichever direction you started.

Jul 09 is the honest best. Jun 02 was not a bad run, it was a hot one.

04 · Conditions

Heat and mud, on the record

Summer can put two minutes on a loop without you losing a thing. Every Trailbuddy run carries its conditions, so the comparison that matters, you against you on the same ground, stays fair through August and mud season alike.

What Trailbuddy is not

Not navigation. Not a coaching plan. Not a feed. Just honest progress on the trails you already run.

Questions

Fair questions

How is this different from a GPS sports app I already use?

Generic apps measure every run the same way: kilometer splits, overall pace, a feed. Trailbuddy measures the trail you actually repeat. It finds your climbs and loops on its own, takes splits at landmarks, and keeps a history per climb and per route so you can see progress in the one place it means something.

Do I have to set up segments or courses beforehand?

No. You just run. Trailbuddy works out afterwards that you ran the water tower climb four times, or that today's loop is the same loop as last Tuesday's, and files the times accordingly.

Does it only work if I run loops?

No. Climbs and repeated routes are the core. Any climb you run more than once gets a history, whether it sits in a loop, an out and back, or the middle of a long point to point.

What do conditions have to do with my times?

A 30 degree afternoon or a muddy week can cost minutes on the same route. Trailbuddy stamps every run with its conditions, so a slow hot day reads as a hot day and a real breakthrough reads as one.
