Your first run

Set up once, then just run.

Trailbuddy takes a couple of minutes of setup before the first run. After that, pressing Start at the trailhead is the whole routine.

  1. Step 1

    Pair your heart-rate strap

Tap the heart on the run screen and scan. Any standard Bluetooth chest strap works. Trailbuddy saves the strap and reconnects it at every later start. Without a strap, Trailbuddy records everything else.

  2. Step 2

    Add your shoes

Add each pair you run in, with the kilometers already on it and, if you like, the distance at which you retire a pair. Trailbuddy counts from there.

  3. Step 3

    Choose what to hear

In the voice settings, keep spoken laps and climb splits on, and pick an interval for eat and drink reminders on long runs. Trailbuddy speaks in the app's language.

  4. Step 4

    Start at the trailhead

Pick your shoes and press Start where your loop begins. Trailbuddy sets the lap gate there. On a point-to-point or an out-and-back, start wherever you like: Trailbuddy still finds every climb and descent.

  5. Step 5

    Run

Trailbuddy closes each lap at the gate and reads the time out to you. When you finish a climb you have run before, Trailbuddy tells you your time on it against your best. Follow the run on the Lock Screen or your Apple Watch, and leave the phone in your pack.

  6. Step 6

    Save the ground

At the finish, pick the trail surface, how the run felt and who can see it, then save. Trailbuddy adds the temperature and the weather at your start and puts the Smart Coach's note for the day at the top of the summary.

  7. Step 7

    Mark your checkpoints

Open a finished run, create a segment and slide to the creek crossing or the ridge you always check. Trailbuddy splits every later run there.
