Common questions

Where should I carry my phone?

In a pocket, a running belt or your vest, wherever it rides steadily. Trailbuddy reads elevation from the phone's barometer and your step rate from its motion sensors, and speaks laps and climbs out loud, so the phone stays in your pack during the run.

Does Trailbuddy work with Apple Watch?

Yes. With an Apple Watch paired, Trailbuddy shows the run on your wrist: the time, the lap, your last lap against your average or your last climb split, heart rate, distance and vertical, with a tap at every lap and Lap and Pause buttons. Your iPhone records the run and the watch mirrors it, so carry the phone while you run.

What does Trailbuddy save to Apple Health?

With your permission, Trailbuddy saves each finished run to Apple Health as a running workout with its route, distance, heart rate and elevation gain and loss. Trailbuddy reads only your resting heart rate, to fill in your profile. You can change access at any time in the Health app.

Where does the weather come from?

When you finish a run, Trailbuddy sends the point and the time where you started to Apple Weather once, and saves the temperature and the conditions with the run. Trailbuddy shows the weather next to the time and never adjusts the time for it.

A run didn't upload. What now?

Trailbuddy saves every finished run on your phone first, uploads it when you're back online and tries again if the connection drops. If the upload still fails, the run's card in your feed tells you and offers Retry. Keep Trailbuddy installed until the run has uploaded, because deleting the app also deletes runs still waiting on the phone.

Who can see my runs?

You choose for each run. Private: only you. Connections & Clubs: your coaches, the athletes you coach and your clubmates. Public: every signed-in Trailbuddy runner; Trailbuddy doesn't publish public runs on the open web. You can change a run's visibility after you save it.

How do I report content or block someone?

You can report runs, comments, profiles, clubs and segments in the app, and block a person from their profile. Trailbuddy reviews every report within 24 hours and removes content that breaks the terms. The person you report doesn't see who reported them. When you block someone, Trailbuddy hides your content from them and theirs from you.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Settings from your profile and choose Delete Account. Trailbuddy deletes your account, runs, photos, videos and everything else you added, together with your sign-in, and completes the deletion within 30 days. Deletion is permanent. If you can't sign in, email hello@trailbuddy.run from the address on your account.
